What is the difference between the Business App and the Business Platform?
WhatsApp offers two options for business use: the WhatsApp Business App and the WhatsApp Business Platform. Which one is right for you depends mostly on the size of your business.
The WhatsApp Business App is a simple application built for small businesses. It offers some built-in business features, but is limited in support/sales/marketing functionalities and user number. So it doesn’t work for professional support teams and WhatsApp marketing.
The WhatsApp Business Platform was developed for larger companies with professional customer communication teams. It is scalable and leverages AI and team features to boost productivity in sales and support. Lime Connect also integrates a drag-and-drop workflow builder, a central knowledge base for AI agents, and a newsletter tool for marketing campaigns.
How do I get access to the Lime Connect WhatsApp channel? Is it time-consuming?
Setting up the WhatsApp channel is simple and takes more or less one hour. Sign up for a Lime Connect account if you don’t have one yet. We’ll guide you step by step to add your WhatsApp account and set up your business profile. When you’re done, you can already start engaging your customers on their favorite app.
What are message templates?
Anytime you start the conversation with a lead or customer, e.g. with a newsletter message, you need to use an approved message template. You can create and submit the template directly from Lime Connect.
Once approved, you can use your templates repeatedly. Placeholders (e.g. for links, names or offers) allow you to customize the template for each campaign. If you don’t reply to a request for 24 hours or more, you need to send a message template to reactivate the conversation. With this “24h service window”, WhatsApp incentivizes companies to respond in a timely manner.
Can I get a verified business account?
Any business can apply to receive a green checkmark. You can start the process in Lime Connect or the Facebook Business Manager. The application must contain proof that your brand is notable and well-known. Businesses have no control over whether their WhatsApp Business account will receive the green checkmark badge or not. However, you can resubmit your application after one month.
How do I send WhatsApp Newsletters?
You can only create WhatsApp newsletters via a WhatsApp Business Platform such as Lime Connect. With Lime Connect’s WhatsApp Campaigns feature, you create a template for your newsletter and get it approved by WhatsApp within minutes. Placeholders allow you to adapt the campaign to different target groups and purposes. Once you’re done, you select a subscriber group, a delivery time – and start sending!
Why do I have to approve marketing messages before I send them?
All business-initiated messages must be approved by WhatsApp before they are sent. Besides marketing messages, such as newsletters, that includes utility messages (e.g. order confirmations) and authentications. This is WhatsApp’s way of preventing spam messages from being mass sent on its platform.

Are WhatsApp chats via Lime Connect end-to-end encrypted?
Both WhatsApp and Lime Connect messages are encrypted. However, as the two systems need to be linked, it can’t be called “end-to-end encrypted.” With Lime Connect’s secure data protection setup, communication with your customers still remains fully protected and GDPR-compliant.
How much does it cost to send WhatsApp Business messages?
All support conversations (“user-initiated conversations“) are free of charge. Meaning, if the customer writes you first and you answer the inquiry, you don’t pay extra.

Which Lime Connect plan includes WhatsApp Business?
With Lime Connect, you get access to WhatsApp Business from the Team plan onward. If you want to use more than two WhatsApp channels (i.e. more than two numbers) you can reach out to discuss your needs with our support team.
I want to send marketing messages and newsletters on WhatsApp – what does that cost?
You can send marketing messages using Lime Connect’s WhatsApp Campaigns tool. There are additional costs for this. From the Team plan onward, 100 campaign messages are included every month.
